The AIDS Clinical Trials Group (ACTG) is now enrolling participants for a study of COVID-19 treatment.

Study A5395 compares two medications against each other to see how effective they are at preventing hospitalization and death in individuals with mild disease.

Hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) tablets are used to prevent or treat malaria. Azithromycin (Zithromax, Z-Pak, and others) is an antibacterial.

HCQ or placebo will be taken for seven days. Azithromycin or placebo will be taken for four days.
